I’m beginning to think that LA has more to offer than clubs, taco trucks, and bars.  There’s a lot of beauty in the city…you just have to look for it and take the time to appreciate it.  If you’ve seen the movie, 500 days of summer, you know that there are so many amazing places in LA to visit; lots of hidden gems that are just waiting to be discovered.

Being on elective this past month has been nothing short of great.  I’ve been working less, have more time to do some traveling, and have been spending the time catching up on some reading and watching re-runs of How I Met Your Mother (if you don’t watch it…you should definitely start).  This particular weekend was great…I saw people that I haven’t seen pretty much all year since starting internship, ate at some of my favorite restaurants, and took in “The City” one last time before maybe returning for med school graduation in the summer.  It felt as if I never had left!  Thanks to Ann and Buu for taking in a homeless straggler, and Erica and Tristan for putting up with my mess.

Some amazing color after yesterday’s soft rain (tint and colors unaltered)

It was definitely a handful keeping my nieces and nephews entertained while they were visiting this weekend, especially since it was raining and everyone was cooped up indoors.  Kids when put together, will always be kids.  They “forget” to share often, poke, push, pull, scream, cry, and tattle  every 5 minutes, and spill food, water, and hot cheetos all over the place.  It’s easy to lose your patience, and even easier to take it out on other people who do nothing more than be at the wrong place at the wrong time.  Fortunately for me, I came up with the fantastic idea of renting “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”, and after sitting down and pressing play…….there was silence.  Kids, adults, babies were all glued to the TV, watching just a stunning display of color and animation, a beautiful rendition of clouds and weather, and a witty script full of puns and sight gags throughout.  It was a phenomenal movie, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it yet.  And as a side note, the photograph above was taken today shortly after it stopped raining.  The colors reminded me of the movie…

Go get it….Red Box has it for $1.00

On vacation…not missing work, the busy streets of LA, or the traffic!
